@SameenaTara-4665
Do you know which version of Excel created this .xls file?
Could other people open this file correctly?
If the pivot table was created in an older version of Excel but you want to open it through Excel for Microsoft 365 apps, this behavior may causes such error message.
Besides, if there is somthing wrong in Pivot Table, you would also see such error message.

It's recommended to back up this file first.
Go to Excel app > File > Formulas > Caculation Options, set "Manual" for Workbook calculation. Then open this file from Excel app to check this issue.

Change the format, such as .xlsx, re-open this file, create a new pivot tabe via Excel for Microsoft 365 apps.

Besides, you may refer to the article "Repair a corrupted workbook" to have a try.

Hi Team,

Thanks for your response!

The files are getting downloaded automatically from the excel template. I can able to open all downloaded files in the excel version 2010.
But, the files which are having pivot tables are showing the above popup messages in Microsoft office 365 (version 2008) but the same I can able to open in 2010 without any popups.

Appreciate your help!

Thanks,
Sameena

And also, I have checked the calculation mode is set to manual only.
The workbook is saving automatically in Excel 97-2003 workbook format in 2010 version.

What should I do now? Pls help me.

Thanks,
Sameena

Please right-click the pivot table in Excel 2010 > PivotTable Options > Data tab, make sure the "Refresh data when opening the file" is not ticked.
Besides, please back up this file, and use Save As in Excel 2010 to save the workbook as .xlsx file, then use Excel for Microsoft 365 apps to open it.

Hello emily,

I checked the PivotTable Options, Refresh data when opening the file" is not ticked.

I can't able to save the file in .xlsx format in Excel 2010 because there is no such format showing there. I can only be able to see one option as "Microsoft Excel 97-2003 worksheet" to save the workbook. please find the attached screenshots.

This content problem may be related to the compatibility of the file formats.
Could you please try to re-create the PivotTable in newer versions Excel according to the one shown in Excel 2010?
