Uninstalling components from Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019

Hi,

I just installed Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019.

During installation, it didn’t give any option for opt-in or opt-out components.

After installation, I see all components like Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.

I want to remove some of components and I did Google search. I found one of links as
https://www.tenforums.com/microsoft-office-365/120493-need-uninstall-some-apps-office-2019-a.html

That’s why I tried from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features but still I didn’t find.

Please let me know, how to remove some of components from Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019?

With Regards
NndnG

@NndnG

I just installed Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019.

<< How did you install Office Professional Plus 2019? Did you use ODT/.xml?

How to remove some of components from Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019?

<<Do you want to remove some applications like Access in the Office Professional Plus 2019 suite?

Generally, Add or Remove Features are available to most MSI version of Office like Office Professional Plus 2016. As Office Professional Plus 2019 use C2R as its installation technology, you may not find it.

It's suggested to use ODT to execute a configuration XML file which uses ExcludeApp element for custom installation.
In most cases, Office Professional Plus 2019 is a volume license version, I used this as an example to test:
1. Download the latest version of ODT to a local folder.
2. Configure the XML file for installing Office Professional Plus 2019. (It is recommended to place the XML file and ODT in the same path.)
3. Type cmd in the search bar and then right click Command Prompt to run it as administrator.
4. Type cd <ODT path>, Enter.
5. Type setup.exe /configure <XML file name>, Enter.

Here is my Test.xml file that installs only Word, Excel and PowerPoint:
<Configuration>
<Add OfficeClientEdition="64">
<Product ID="ProPlus2019Volume">
<Language ID="en-us" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Access" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Groove" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Lync" />
<ExcludeApp ID="OneDrive" />
<ExcludeApp ID="OneNote" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Outlook" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" />
</Product>
</Add>
</Configuration>

If it is the retail version of Office Professional Plus 2019, just change the <Product ID="ProPlus2019Retail"> attribute in the XML file to <Product ID="ProPlus2019Volume">.

After the installation is complete:

For more information about using ODT deployment to install Office, you could refer to " Deploy Office 2019".

Hope the information could be helpful to you. Any updates, please let me know.

Thank you for replying and giving your time.

As you asked, << How did you install Office Professional Plus 2019? Did you use ODT/.xml?
I installed it with setup.exe file.

Next you asked, <<Do you want to remove some applications like Access in the Office Professional Plus 2019 suite?
I want to keep only Microsoft Outlook.

As you said, Generally, Add or Remove Features are available to most MSI version of Office like Office Professional Plus 2016. As Office Professional Plus 2019 use C2R as its installation technology, you may not find it.

You're right, generally, Add or Remove Features is used but in this case, when I use Program and Features, it doesn't give option like Add or Remove Features. Microsoft Office uninstalled completely.

Hi @NndnG,

Thanks for your reply.

I installed it with setup.exe file.

<< How did you get the setup.exe file? If it is obtained by downloading ODT, please refer to the 5 steps in my first reply to install only Outlook.

The .xml file for installing only Outlook in the Office Professional Plus 2019 suite is as follows:
<Configuration>
<Add OfficeClientEdition="64">
<Product ID="ProPlus2019Volume">
<Language ID="en-us" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Access" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Excel" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Groove" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Lync" />
<ExcludeApp ID="OneDrive" />
<ExcludeApp ID="OneNote" />
<ExcludeApp ID="PowerPoint" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Word" />
</Product>
</Add>
</Configuration>

And installation process is

72529-win10test-2021-02-27-03-18-17.png

No step for opt-in or opt-out components.

After installation, I see all components working fine but I want to keep only Outlook.

Moreover, you explained about .xml file. I couldn't understand steps.

Pls look installation process and let me know how to remove all components except Outlook?

With Regards

Hi @NndnG,

According to the screenshot you provided, if you want to remove other applications and keep only Outlook, you may need to use ODT for custom installation instead of the current installation method.

I have an ISO file of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019. I mounted it. Then I executed setup.exe

<< The setup.exe you provided is the installation program of the complete Office Professional Plus 2019, not the setup.exe of ODT.

Please follow the complete steps as below.
1. Download the latest version of ODT to a local folder, here I downloaded it to C:\ODT (the local folder path will be used in step 4).
72938-image.png

2. Configure the test.xml file for installing only Outlook.
73013-image.png
This is the test.xml I used here (you could create in the path C:\ODT by yourself).
<Configuration>
<Add OfficeClientEdition="64">
<Product ID="ProPlus2019Volume">
<Language ID="en-us" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Access" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Excel" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Groove" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Lync" />
<ExcludeApp ID="OneDrive" />
<ExcludeApp ID="OneNote" />
<ExcludeApp ID="PowerPoint" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" />
<ExcludeApp ID="Word" />
</Product>
</Add>
</Configuration>

3. Type cmd in the search bar and then right click Command Prompt to run it as administrator.

4. Type cd <ODT path, here is C:\ODT which is mentioned in step 1>, Enter.

5. Type setup.exe /configure <XML file name, in my test is test.xml>, Enter.
73022-image.png
Then the installation will start.

Hope the above steps are clear for you.
