I have been using Office Outlook 2013 Pro for my email client very successfully for perhaps eight or more years and it stores all of those emails I wished to keep over that time. Two days ago the programme closed down after a few seconds and has continued to do so since then. I have been onto various forums etc and have followed just about every piece of advice available - sadly nothing has worked and I cannot access historical and important messages. Any and all advice will be received with enthusiasm and gratitude ! Bill S.

    Hi @Bill Soens

    Welcome to our forum.

What's the type of your account(POP,IMAP or Exchange)?
What's the version of your Outlook 2013(File > Office account> About Outlook), please first ensure that you have updated to the latest version of Outlook.

Two days ago the programme closed down after a few seconds and has continued to do so since then

Considering the issue was occurred only recently, have you performed any specific operations before it(such as install any programs or add ins)?

I have been onto various forums etc and have followed just about every piece of advice available - sadly nothing has worked

In order to better troubleshoot your issue, could you please tell us what the specific methods that you have tried?

As I know, some add-ins may casue Outlook crash/close issue, it's suggested to first restart your Outlook in safe mode to test(Windows + R>type"outlook.exe /safe">enter).

Also, the issue may occur when you have a too large or corrupted data file, please check the size of your data file first (File>Account settings>Account settings>Data Files). If you are using .ost file, Outlook would provide a good user experience on most hardware when the file size is up to 5 gigabytes (GB). For the specific limit of Outlook data file, please refer to this article. If you have checked the size of data file, it may also occur when your data file is corrupted, it's suggested to repair your Outlook data file to check.

If that's invalid, it may be related to corrupted Outlook profile, please try to create a new profile and readd your account to test(Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>Add).
If the issue still exists, I'm afraid your outlook client may be corrupted, it's also suggested to repair your Outlook to check if your issue has any difference.

If your issue has any update, please feel free to post back.
