Can you change a Teams meeting to a Teams Live event with the same invite link?

We have a Teams meeting scheduled with a lot of attendees, and have already sent the invitation link to many people at great time and cost. We are finding out through current meetings the limitations of Teams meetings, and need to upgrade a future Teams meeting to a Teams Live event without sending out new login info. How do we do this?

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

@AZimmerman-7621,

Currently, we cannot convert a Teams meeting to Live event.

We recommend you cancel the original Teams meeting and create a new Live Event. For more details about live event, please refer to this article.

This is very unfortunate as the meeting information has gone out to nearly 400 people with no real way to get the new login to them again. Big problem, and seems really strange. Or maybe you can still use the same link somehow even if you cancel and create a new event?

@AZimmerman-7621,

The meeting link is valid even if you cancel the meeting.

But when you open the link, it can only start a Teams meeting not live event. It is by design.

Many people give the same feedback in Teams UserVoice. You could vote here.

Microsoft will always focus on customer’s feedback and experience. Some new features would be added to the services based on customers' feedback in the future, and your good ideas will be very helpful for them to improve the service.
