how do I Assign serial Nos to inventory already recived, or aquired prior to using MSBS

I Have been Receipting/Receiving items into my inventory with no serial No.s, and I wish to now assign serial Nos.
How do I do this?
Also If i received inventory prior to MSBC (Historic Stock) that I wish to add as inventory, how do I adjust this when it also asks for serial No.s to be created?
