Hi Experts!

Our client is recently purchased Win RDS User CAL of 100 quatity and they want to Reallocate a few RDS licenses from current server to another server. In 100 CALS we are planning to migrate 20 License to other server. Is there a way to get 20 RDS CALS from out of 100 to be migrate to another server ?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/migrate-rds-cals

Scenerio is like that :

Server 1 ==> 100+ Licenses

Expected

Hi,
It is supported to split RDS CALs, and migrate part of RDS CALs to another RD Licensing server.

If there are multi RDS CALs packs on your existing server, you can consider of Migrate your Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses (RDS CALs):
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/migrate-rds-cals

If you want to split existing RDS CAL, one pack, half on one server and half on another server, you can rebuld current RD Licensing databased, then, re-install RDS CALs on both licensing server, with appropriate CALs number entered.

Rebuild the RD Licensing Database:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2008-R2-and-2008/dd851428(v%3dws.11)

Also, you can contact Clearinghouse with your license agreement numbers and explain to them about the details. They will help you install them based on your requirement - Locate the Microsoft Clearinghouse Telephone Number for Your Country or Region:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2008-R2-and-2008/cc754874(v=ws.11)
Hope this helps and please help to accept as Answer if the response is useful.
Best Regards,
Carl

Hi,
When you buy RDS CAL's you don't buy them for a particular RDS Licensing server, so you can split the CAL's across as many RDS Licensing servers as you need or want to.
So you can assign a specific number of CALs to each RDS Licensing server.
1. Gather your licensing paperwork/emails with authorization/license numbers/etc.

  1. On the new licensing server, open RD Licensing Manager (licmgr.exe), Activate your server (if you haven't already), right-click on your server name and choose Manage Licenses. Follow the wizard to migrate your licenses. If you have problems you may contact the Clearinghouse:

Hope this helps and please help to accept as Answer if the response is useful.
Best Regards,
Carl
