DR server in Azure

Hello,

How can we build a DR scenario in Azure.
Like there is a IIS server setup on 2 regions region A and B. Where region B is a replica of region A.
Even the ip address of the server in region A needs to be similar to ip address of the server in region B.
When a user connect to this server they connect to any of the server in region A or B.

Is this possible to have a such configuration in azure ? Experts please suggest.

Hi @NM-0091 ,

As far as I know it*s not possible to use the same IPs in different Azure regions. Public IPs in Azure are always "region-specific" and can't be mixed between Azure regions.
But DNS should be your friend:

  • Deploy your IIS servers in different Azure regions with different "region-specific" public IPs.

  • Create a A-record for each of the servers in DNS to resolve name to the public IPs.

  • If possible activate round-robin on DNS or check if it's activated already.

This way the DNS name could be resolved to both IIS servers.
