Windows 10 RDP app connection issues

I am using the Windows 10 RDP store app to connect to another Windows 10 computer over LAN (Mixed wired and wireless)

I have been encountering 3 issues with intermittent occurrence, all of which are disruptive to my workflow:

  • Host video freezes, but input still works. Desktop doesn't resize, but you can see text typed post-freeze when reconnecting.
  • Client input freezes, but video still works. Desktop doesn't resize, but you can see the cursor blinking and notifications/video still updating.
  • Data Encryption Error message. I've seen this posted many times with no clear fix that has worked.

I have tried this and this on the client machine with no success.

A secondary issue which makes this more annoying is windows changing window positions when reconnecting, so corner docked windows become side-docked, and one application I use crashes because the virtual display disappears.

I hope this is this one issue, not a compound issue, because I imagine that will be painful to fix.

Please help!

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Currently, Microsoft Q&A supports the products listed over here: supported topics (more to be added later on).

Your question about RDC is not supported yet now. You could go to this forum to ask it.

    Thanks.

The troubleshoot methods in the links you mentioned are used for Windows 10 built-in Remote Desktop Connection, this is a program, which can be called out by typing mstsc in search box or Run dialog.

The RDP store app you are using now is called Microsoft Remote Desktop, the operation you did on system cannot influence it. Therefore, use mstsc to check remote desktop effect.

I thought they would be utilising the same underlying systems. The built in RDP program is no good as it doesn't have dynamic desktop sizing.
Anyway, it sounds like 'Microsoft Q & A' isn't the place to ask Microsoft Questions and get answers about this... why have split support channels?
