publish a file not the project.

I have noticed with latest release of VS community 2019 if I right click on a file I no longer get the publish file option. If I use drop down menu and click on publish project the I can then go back to file and publish file appears. Also noticed that sometimes if my code has errors they are not listed at the bottom of the screen properly.

Hello @69673825 ,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Is these issues still reproducible on your side? Could you share some screenshots and reproducible steps with me for further check?

Not sure what kind of project you are using, I guess you mean the first issue appeared in a ASP .NET Core project? As far as I know, for ASP .NET Core project, we usually publish the whole project to the server and if there is a file modified, for example one html file, we will try to publish it again, but we just need to use “publish XXXX” option to cover the old version of that file on server.

So these are based on the whole project has been published to the server like you mentioned “If I use drop down menu and click on publish project, I can then go back to file and publish file appears”.

I also tested on a previous version of Visual Studio Community 2019 and if I didn’t publish the whole project, there would be no “publish XXXX” option.

Best Regards,
Tianyu
