Confirmed. BSOD and reboot in any printer when trying to print from chrome // edge.

Hi,

After research, I didn't find information about KB5000802 cause BSOD yet.

Generally, to narrow the issue, we may try to uninstall the KB500802, and check if BSOD still exists.

Please also try to set the dump settings to collect the dump file when BSOD occurs:

How to configure a memory dump:

=========================================

NOTE: If RAM is larger than 32GB, we need to collect Kernel Dump. If the RAM is small than 32GB, we can collect Complete dump. We need to restart the machine to make the setting effect, please arrange downtime first.

  1. Set pagefile. (If RAM is larger than 32GB ,set Pagefile to 30GB. If the RAM is small than 32GB, set Pagefile to (RAM+100MB))

a. Right - Click My computer, choose Properties

b. Click the Advanced system Settings.

c. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Performance, click Settings.

d. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Virtual memory, click Change.

e. In the Drive [Volume Label] list, choose one drive with enough disk space, Click Custom size, and then type (RAM+100MB) in both Initial size (MB) and Maximum size (MB) box. Then click Set, click OK.

  1. Configure dump type

Locate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl

Set CrashDumpEnabled ; (If RAM is larger than 32GB, set it to 0x2; If the RAM is small than 32GB, set it to 0x1)

Set “Dumpfile = %SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP”; (please make sure C drive has enough space, if not, we can change dump to another drive like d:\memory.dmp)

If you collect the dump file for the issue, it's recommended to open a case and upload the dump file with MS for deep troubleshooting:

Below is the link to open a case with MS:

At the same time, I will notice on the forum and check if a huge thread about this issue will arise.

Thanks for your time!
Best Regards,
Anne

Is PCL6 another Kyocera driver?

Yes, when you search Kyocera drivers you can chose Kyocera Generic Classic drivers with PCL5 and PCL6 package drivers.
After changes drivers to PCL6 the issue is missed.
I think uninstall Windows upgrade is not the right way.

After the KB5000802 Update, several users reported BSOD (APC.IndexMismatch/win32kfull.sys) when printing to Kyocera printer.
But also system crashes when opening or saving office documents.

After uninstalling KB5000802 everything works fine again.

Yes, the update breaks several printer drivers. Especially Kyocera but also other vendors.

Also can cause Bluescreens when starting specific software. (Probably because this software somehow interacts with printer drivers when you start it.)

There are a lot of very recent reports on different websites/blogs/forums about this. It seems the rollout of the update has been stopped in the meantime.

Uninstalling the update should solve the issues.

I can confirm the issue happens with olivetti and ricoh printers, also.

What I have found is:
1. It affects ALL Kyocera drivers that use the KX printer driver (which is pretty much all Kyocera printers). SOME kyocera models (not all) can be switched to PCL6, which solves it. Other (older) models are stuck with the KX driver, and cannot print PCL6 AT ALL. What's bad is that the PCL6 version of these drivers are limited in function.
2. Just entering the print dialog will cause you to bluescreen in some programs, for others you actually need to print.
3. If you uninstall the update, it will just reinstall back the next day. You need to also disable updates in "advanced".
4. The hide updates utility (which BTW is no longer available on the windows site) does not show this update, and therefore cannot hide this update.

This affects ALL windows 10 computers that have updated to this KB5000802 and are using the KX driver. ALL.
I've tried the workaround of "direct" print, DOESN'T work. Other compatibility workaround way too complicated.

FYI, the "direct printing" method only work if the program you used to open the document is 32-bit one and your OS is 64-bit version.

Also from here, you may want to install Application Compatibility Toolkit and then follow the steps published by Microsoft to apply the “PrinterIsolationAware” fix for both 32-bit and 64-bit programs. (It would be painful to patch each and every programs this way, so only patch the ones you need to print with frequently.)

I stated before, that workaround is way too complicated. If its only your machine that's compromised, fine, it's a few programs plus installing the compatibility fix. If you're the IT of a company, it's a whole different matter. If you think it's a pain to do just ONE computer, think about dozens, hundreds, thousands.

Well, once you've done it once for all the applications that requires the compatibility fix, you can deploy it domain-wide with login script, which I believe most companies have for other things such as setting up network shares anyway.

Even if your company does not use domain to manage computers, you can always put the .sdb file on shared drive and run sdbinst.exe utility one by one on each computer. I would imagine that if your company decide they don't need centralized management for computers, the number of computer should be reasonably (in the view of the company) low.

You're really not thinking this through. Consider a company that's large enough to merit deploying with a domain-wide login script, how many different departments with different users and different needs would that be? It's not a simple matter of saying "Hey, only do the office suite for the whole company, we're done". You have to go to each and every department, determine their needs and the specific needs of any outlying user that uses some special apps, do the script, and then deploy. Consider how much effort that is: you have to pretty much look at EVERY USER to see what programs they use that print, since it's not only PRINTING that bluescreens, it's simply going to the PRINT DIALOG. You're making it seem like a simple task to deploy, when you yourself use the word "painful".

Anyways, the issue was fixed with the new patch. Waiting for the patch would take less time than doing all the silly compatibility workarounds.

I had the BSOD due to this update. I have uninstalled the update using the command prompt, rebooted and then everything was fine. At least until the next morning. I had my account locked but computer remained on and now two days in a row the update has reinstalled itself and I'm getting the BSOD again. Any way to permanently ban this update from getting to my machine? I don't see any options in the Windows Update or Update History panels.

Hello, I have the same issue but KB5000802 was not installed but KB5000908 was. After uninstalling it seems to be fixed. Win10 1909.
should Printer vendors like Kyocera also fix this?
