Hi,
I am trying to establish whether or not we need to enable global VNet peering between two Hub networks in 2 separate Azure regions when designing a DR solution for Expressroute.
The design pattern we are following is straightforward enough and is documented here :
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/expressroute/designing-for-disaster-recovery-with-expressroute-privatepeering#large-distributed-enterprise-network
As you can see in the above article the two Hubs (in different regions) are not shown as being peered. However, there is another article on Microsoft Docs which does show 2 Hubs in 2 separate regions where the Hub networks are peered using Global VNet peering :
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/expressroute/cross-network-connectivity
Which is the preferred approach here ?
Are there any disadvantages to enabling Global VNet peering in the above scenario (apart from the ingress/egress costs) ?
