Windows Desktop client / "Modern" Remote Desktop Client - Copy Files from client to WVD host?

He there, We have a more or less small WVD environment in Azure, so we have to use the Windows Desktop Client (see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/clients/windowsdesktop).
Now the question came up, why there is no feasibility to copy/paste files. Is this still not supported but in focus?
That the browser client doesn't support this, is already known and fine for us, but the client? Is there any documentation available which describes this case?

@FlorianAdler , check out similar issue and it's resolution here. Request you to check all the steps mentioned by Andy there.

Pls let me know any of this works for you.

@HarshitaSingh-MSFT unfortunately this post did not help. Besides the question came up, if both machines really have to be in the same domain?!
The clipboard redirection on Host Pool site is set to available:

The Do not allow clipboard redirection GPO is set to disabled:

The local Group Policies are not configured:

Access via mstsc will not work due to limitations regarding Firewall, external access, etc.

if not you can use this article :Configure RDP properties in the Azure portal

Reference article :Configure device redirections

Best Regards
Karlie

Hi @KarlieWeng-MSFT,

thanks for you quick response. The clipboard redirection is already active and works fine with plain text. Unfortunately we're unable to copy formated text (even between Word on host client and Word on WVD client) or files, no matter which direction you try it.

As far is I remember those where core functionalities in the "old" RDP client (mstsc.exe). Therefore my question if this is documented somewhere or at least in focus for the upcoming development.

After some research , didn't find any articles related.

We could post it in UserVoice for Fslogix : https://windowsvirtualdesktop.uservoice.com/forums/921289-fslogix to suggest features you'd like the product team to add to the service.

It seems to be an issue when client/host are not in the same domain. I recently tested it with another environment where WVD hosts are AD Domain joined and the client is AAD hybrid joined. In this scenario I was able to copy files in both directions.

Maybe the documentation could be updated to cover this?!

if this is a feature suggested , I would still suggest to post on UserVoice for Fslogix , as product team would improve this.
