Anti-Spam in Office365

Hi,

My company is using Microsoft Office 365 Business Standard. We have turned on anti-spam features however, there are selected users who keep receiving spam emails. Mostly the bosses.

Please advise how we can increase the security of anti-spam in Office365.

There's no single answer here, it depends on the type of spam you're receiving. Purchasing a Defender for O365 (previously known as Advanced Threat Protection) subscription and leveraging the additional protection features there might be a good start: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/office-365-security/office-365-atp?view=o365-worldwide

Hi @michev,

I have checked the ATP/Defender for Office 365 and the license is counted by the user. Can I apply the ATP to the only selected users or I have to purchase the ATP depending on how many mailboxes I have in Office 365?

You can purchase licenses/assign them to specific users only. Some subscriptions (EDU) are valid for all users within a tenant. Refer to the documentation above for more details.

Hi @NadhrahNini-8098 ,
Agree with michev, and you could also use the following methods to increase your security.
1.Please point your MX record to Microsoft 365. In order for EOP to provide the best protection, we always recommend that you have email delivered to Microsoft 365 first.

2.Please make sure to set up the correct DNS records, including SPF, DKIM and DMARC. These DNS will help insure that messages from senders in that domain are legitimate.

3.Please run the following command to verify that whether enable the junk email rule on a mailbox:

 Get-MailboxJunkEmailConfiguration -Identity <> | Format-List Enabled

4.You can also create a block sedner lists based on the sender of the spam email.

For more information you could refer to: Anti-spam protection in EOP and Create blocked sender lists in EOP
