In the Azure document, it has mentioned the below info about creating Linked Server in Azure Managed Instance.

Linked server does not support the below targets.
files, Analysis Services, and other RDBMS.

What do they mean by analysis services , are they referring to Azure Analysis services or Sql server Analysis services(On-premises).

We have a current setup where our on-premises sql server has linked server connected to SSAS. We are planning to migrate the sql server to Azure managed instance and also create azure analysis services. Can we create linked server from Azure managed instance to Azure analysis services, if yes please provide some documentations.

Thanks

    Hi @Dan.Thiru .

The Linked Server provider will only work to link another SQL Server and will not work in the case of Azure Analysis Server. Please see the following UserVoice entry (Linked Server to non SQL Sources) to up vote and comment upon this desired functionality.

You only are able to use the SQL provider to connect to Azure SQL Database, SQL Server or Azure SQL Managed Instance.

Please see the Azure Database Support Blog: Lesson Learned #63: It is possible to create Linked Server in Azure SQL Managed Instance?

    Regards,
    Mike
