Is Azure Identity Authentication supported on Azure SQL VMs?

The guide here says that Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) authentication is a mechanism for connecting to Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Synapse SQL in Azure Synapse Analytics by using identities in Azure AD.

We are creating an Azure SQL VM and wondering if Azure Authentication is supported or not. I looked everywhere but couldn't find any resource on whether it is supported or not. And if it is supported, then how to configure it. Any help or leads on it would be appreciated.

    Azure Active Directory authentication (Preview)

    Try to use the preview feature and sign-in to Azure VM using AAD credentials
    Sign in to Windows virtual machine in Azure using Azure Active Directory authentication (Preview)
