How do I get photos to print without having a missing strip?

Windows 10 New issue c 12.03.21 After pressing 'Print', I reach 'how do I want to print my pictures', after choosing, I press 'print' & arrive at the 'Print Preview'. Here, the photo displays with part of the photo missing. If I go ahead & print, the photo is printed with that missing strip. (I've already tried using one route to clear the spool : also have uninstalled two updates from 12th March that seemed to coincide with this error first arising: I've re-started. Neither approach has helped)
(Tag options both unclear & unhelpful)

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

Are you facing this issue in one specific application?
What app are you using to perform the printing?
Have you selected the print paper correctly?

Thanks Reza-Ameri : My level of computer literacy is not high.
I'm using 'Photos' in Windows on my Lenovo Yoga laptop - the way I have routinely done for 2 or 3 years: I've never had this problem before.
I typically copy photos I wish to print to my desk top. I select, right click & choose 'Print'
I have selected the print paper correctly - (the error is visible on the Print Preview before printing).
I have a cable connection to my Epson printer (XP-412)

Use the Windows explorer to browse the folder where your pictures are. Right click the photo that you are trying to print and from the menu select "Open with". That will show you a menu of programs that can process pictures. Try opening the picture with different programs. Do they all show the same missing strip?

Then select different pictures and do the same thing. Do all photos have the same problem? Do all apps have the same problem?

You may have a corrupt photo.

Do a quick test and click on print and then select Print to PDF and it will save it as a PDF and check if you observe the same behavior in the PDF file?

I have exactly the same issue with windows print - no matter what format, it fails to print the middle of the print. Its not a printer problem as all other applications to print phots work. Problem started last week, I suspect an unexpected consequent of an windows upgrade.

Thanks Neil
That was my suspicion - commiserations to you. Perhaps I should be writing to Microsoft : I think I saw references online to acknowledged problems with one or more March upgrades & planned fixes in the coming weeks ...

I suggest you install latest updates from MS - last week's feature/quality update did the trick and resolved the issue. I think it is actually KB5001649 that fixes the problem.

Hi Rob, I'm never quiet sure how MS patches work these days, but I believe it was Quality Update March 9, 2021—KB5000802 caused the issue and it is resolved by any or all of cumulative updates March 18, 2021—KB5001649, March 15, 2021—KB5001567 or the Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2 of March 16, 2021.

I could never find KB5000802 in the list of patches to uninstall, so I have installed my way out of the issue. The patches above are what's in the update history since 10th March. I can't find any documentation that specifically mentions the missing bit of print issue.

I did also note that I have (automated) driver updates for both of my HP and Bother drivers on 19 March. But I think the problem was solved before them, but you never know.

As an ex CISO , I tend to get all patches and driver updates installed automatically and accept the optional ones on a regular basis...... and then accept that with Microsoft that means that every now an again bits of the system go snafu. That does happen occasionally, but MS usually fix it in about 2 or 3 weeks. That is obviously a far bigger issue if your running a 1000 user network than a single PC. I have the scares to prove it!

Hope you get it sorted

Yesterday I installed Optional Update 20H2 but that didn't resolve the print issue so I uninstalled it. Today Security update KB4601319 was installed automatically but it also didn't resolve the print issue. In the end I uninstalled Security Update KB5000802 as advised by KarlieWeng-MSFT. That worked! Thankyou! I wonder what security fix I am now missing out on that was in KB5000802? What risk is now exposed? Should I reinstall it sometime later on?

I am experiencing the same problem as TonyGraham-1043. The middle strip or sometimes the right hand 2/3 strip doesn't print. Same if I look at Print Preview. If I open the jpg photo in other software like Photos or Photo Director, then it prints OK. I prefer using Windows Photo Viewer and would like to fix this problem.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

Thanks.

Despite having a solution from KarlieWeng-MSFT , the same problem has now re-occurred. RobBurrows-5654,

Hi thanks for the suggestion and good to see it resolved for others. I have an issue still. Although I can see that KB5000802 was installed on 10/3/21 in my system, I cannot see it as a update to uninstall. It is not on the list. Is it because as I have patched up to date and it has been replaced by KB5001567. That was noted as a fix for the KB5000802 BSOD problem. I can see KB5001567 as a patch that I could remove but not KB5000802.

I still have the problem when trying to print photos from windows print. The middle of the print is missing. I thought patching had meant it only occured on full page prints, but that's not the case. The same problem happens on 1/2 page and smaller prints.

Help appreciated, Neil

Hello KarlieWeng
Success!
I believed I had uninstalled the suspect patch & restarted - but I must have uninstalled 'an innocent bystander' - ie a different 'update'. In response to your mail, I've just seen that I had not uninstalled the patch KB5000802. I went ahead & uninstalled/restarted as you suggested. I'm now able to print from Photos as I'd been used to.
Thank you!

I hope EliMcCrory-5184 & 'Neil' may get help from the same route.

Thanks Eli - I'll email Microsoft - not certain whether there's a route that gives a realistic chance of any influence or response - but feels better than crossing fingers.
