Bottom Buttons & Scrolling

I have an app that includes a RecyclerView with the following screenshot:
77613-screenshot-1615779496.png
It lets me scroll ALMOST to the bottom. The last bit of the RecyclerView is hidden by the buttons (which are not part of my code, of course). I want my app to use the area between the Status Bar and these buttons, but the buttons are hiding my app rather than resizing it. The RecyclerView is
androidx.recyclerview.widget.RecyclerView
and the root of my app is a GridLayout. What should I do to prevent these buttons from hiding my app? Thanks.

Hi @njsokalski ,what buttons do you mean by these buttons? I couldn't see those buttons on your screenshot. Could you please post some code snippets or a basic demo to github or onedriver so that we can help you better?

"These buttons" refers to the gray triangle, circle, & square in the black area at the bottom. This black area & buttons are added automatically by default, I did not add any code to include them (but since I want them, that is of course good). They are in the screenshot, were you unable to see the screenshot (I can repost the screenshot if needed)? I am guessing that I just need to change or add a parameter or attribute somewhere to specify whether the app includes these during layout, or maybe I need to manually obtain the height of the buttons and add a bottom margin to my root layout. But the interesting thing is that the problem only occurs if the RecyclerView requires scrolling (if all RecyclerView items fit onscreen there is no problem).

I'm not sure the reason, but it is now gone. It may have had something to do with the nested RecyclerView that I had, but right now I have not made an undesired changes and am no longer having the problem. I guess it's one of those "unplanned fixes".
