Teams chat not working

Our school's teams chat feature is not working right now. Despite being connected to the internet, the Teams chat gives an error message reading, "We ran into a problem. Reconnecting...", but it never properly reconnects. Administrators have been messaging through teams, but the messages are not going through on the desktop or through the phone app.

Does this issue persist all the time?

Do you mean users cannot send or receive messages in Team client?

Have you tried to login in Team web client to see if it works for you?

In this case, please make sure you have opened UDP ports 3478 through 3481 in the firewall. For more details about network requirements, you can learn it from:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/prepare-network

In addition, please go to Microsoft 365 admin center and check if Team service health is normal in it.

Are you still facing this issue?

There was an outage with authentication service which impacted Microsoft services including MS Teams.. It could be the issue
