MS Edge leaving multiple instance when closed

Recently reinstalled win10pro & programs including MS Edge. After Internet browsing/closing Edge attempting to clean cookies,etc. using CClean- Cclean skips edge cookies, history, etc., Examining Task mgr shows 6 instances of Edge(background operations turned off in edge settings). Closing last Edge instance removes all 6 entries and Cclean clears the cookies,etc. Also when CClean is opened (after the OS reinstall) the OS asks if I want to allow Cclean to install as if it was not installed.??? There seems to be an issue either with Edge or Win10(recently reinstalled and updated). How can this issue be resolved?

    Apparently multiple browser processes are a feature to improve security and reliability. They all keep going after you think you have closed it and even before you started it!

    That is another feature which you can turn one off in Edge, Settings, System, Start-up Boost (separate from running background apps).
