Azure Weekly backup triggering is incremental or Full?

when i select the backup schedule as weekly in azure backup then the initial backup trigger as a full backup.
Ex i select 18th march 9am, then the 18th march 9am trigger full backup then next week also weekly backup will trigger. then next week date is 25th march 9am. 25th 9am triggering backup is full backup or incremental backup?

@AbdulBasith-2983 Thank you for contacting us!
AFAIK, initial backup is a full backup and subsequent backups are incremental. This might change depending on the policy defined. Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-architecture#comparison-of-backup-types

Will get more information on this.

Stay tuned!

@AbdulBasith-2983 Appreciate your patience in this matter!

VM backups are always first full and forever incremental. This is applicable for weekly/monthly/yearly backups as well. May I know how this information is useful? For example, are you worried that Azure Backup would add up more storage or whether you’d prefer a full backup, etc?

@AbdulBasith-2983 IMHO you can employ Azure Runbook automation to trigger Backups on a monthly schedule, Just ensure you provide in the right retention values as they will be considered as Adhoc backups triggered via PS.

Hope this helps.
