Difference between Excel ApplicationClass Class and GlobalClass Class re: COM

I see there are two Excel COM classes named "Microsoft Excel Application" CLSID={00020812-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}; 15.0.0.0 [Class] = Microsoft.Office.lnterop.Excel.GlobalClass CLSID={00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}; 15.0.0.0 [Class] = Microsoft.Office.lnterop.Excel.ApplicationClass Why is there a GlobalClass and when would one choose one of these classes over another?
