Hi, I recently inherited a system (2 weeks ago). Was informed that the site uses an Azure backup server with cloud protect. The site has just lost its on-site Azure Backup Server and we need to restore a couple of Hyper-V VMs that show in the Azure online dashboard as backed up with online recover points. Is it possible to retrieve the backed up VM direct from Azure Online? Or do I need to get a replacement On-Site Azure Backup Server? Sorry new to azure backup. ![79707-image.png][1] [1]: /api/attachments/79707-image.png?platform=QnA

anonymous user Thank you for reaching out to us!

For your scenario: Yes, you need to set up a new Azure backup server and then use option "Recover to an alternate location". You can follow the steps from this URL - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-alternate-dpm-server#:~:text=A%20list%20of%20files%20and,the%20backup%20copy%20was%20created.
