We are using a WD USB drive for backup. We do not want to leave it running all the time for security reasons. Is there a way to drop power to just that one USB port and not affect other USB devices? We have been looking for a program to run but cannot find one. We have discovered the PnPutil, but have not been able to test it yet. I don't think we can cut power to an USB port since they are hardwired on the motherboard.
What I can think of is using third-party software such as USBDeview to disable specific USB ports in Windows.
