Is it possible to remove all quotes from a document in word ?

Had a quick question – is it possible to remove all quotes from a document in word. So removing everything within quotations. I thought it could be possible using the find and replace option and wildcards but cannot figure it out.

Do you want to do it manually or programmatically, using VBA macros?

Hi! Thank you so much this answer was helpful! Had a follow-question.

How can I remove all quotes from a text followed by source. All the quotes in the document I am trying to remove are followed by a source (like below) and I want to remove the quotes and the sources from the document. Is it possible to remove all quotes and the line directly following them as well ?

Hi @ElisabethSanson-2202,
Try this method: Click Ctrl + H- under Replace tab- Find what enter (“)(”)- Replace with enter nothing( if you want to keep quotes, enter: \1\2)- click More >>- Search: All- check Use wildcards- click Replace All*:

The Find expression by emizhang will only work properly (if at all) if the document uses smart quotes exclusively. If any of the double-quotes are plain and others are smart, the results could be disasterous. For safety, use:
Find = [“"]*["”]
Replace = nothing

Since you want to «remove all quotes from a document», there is also no need for the () in the Find expression by emizhang
