RDS Licensing on Windows Server 2016 Data Center on Azure

I am installing the RDS on windows server 2016 datacenter edition of Azure VM.

while installing it went smooth and installed successfully after which restarted system after restart the RDS service not showing as installed.

But same is successful on same type and OS of server in which it has installed successfully and both servers are in same domain.

Is there any solution for the same.

Hi @DeepakSharma-8406

It's possible the RDS Role didn't fully install, or errored on finalization after reboot. You can review the server's Event Logs through Event Viewer on the VM, then find the Windows Logs > Setup for any failed installation Events.

As an example, error code 0x800706D9: The installation may error if the Windows Firewall is disabled. RDS attempts to set Firewall Exceptions and may fail if it's unable to do so.

You can then reference any failure events and IDs through this Doc for available solutions: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services-overview

I'd like to also forward this answer that should be able to help verify the Role installation, and reinstall with some troubleshooting steps: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/61592/remote-desktop-services-issue-after-installation-f.html
