Does it make a difference what drive SQL CLR and Report Viewer are installed on?

Does it make a difference what drive SQL CLR and Report Viewer are installed on?

I ran setup for both SQL CLR and Report Viewer on the D drive. The C drive is the OS.
Does it make a difference where I install the SCOM setup from?,... can I run setup from C drive or D drive?

I was asked by a collegue where I installed SQL CLR and Report Viewer. They were both installed on the D drive.

Should I install SCOM 2019 on the C drive (OS) or the D drive (Data)?

Hi,

Theoretically, it doesn't matter which location we install SQL CLR and report viewer, if we have the chance to change the location during installation process.

OS volume and data volume is only logically divided for some management purpose. For software, if the location is valid, it's okay. In addition, for both Microsoft System CLR Types and Microsoft Report Viewer, it seems there is no options for us to change the installation location when we run the setup via GUI.

Alex

For backup purpose, it's good to save the installation media both for SCOM & SQL CLR in D:/. There may be times when the OS can get corrupted and if you have the media saved in another drive, you can always run it as it will create program files after installation in the C:/
Hence, my recommendation would be D:/
