Retraction. I was up late. I was working on several machines and comparing updates from now to updates from a few days ago to try and figure out what is happening. It looks like the January update moved to another group heading and I missed it. That was on machines updated a day or two ago. While machines having updates from roughly 5 or more days ago have it under a different heading and do not change even if I force an update.
It appears that starting in January the Windows Update service went through some type of transition. The cumulative January update now appears to be deprecated on new installs as of the last few days. And KB2267602, a security update, now installs but only after 2 tries.
Nice hot mess. Can someone point me to an article that describes what happened? Can someone at Microsoft give me a reasonable apologetic reply?
