Windows 10 20H2 2021 Updates Status

Retraction. I was up late. I was working on several machines and comparing updates from now to updates from a few days ago to try and figure out what is happening. It looks like the January update moved to another group heading and I missed it. That was on machines updated a day or two ago. While machines having updates from roughly 5 or more days ago have it under a different heading and do not change even if I force an update.

It appears that starting in January the Windows Update service went through some type of transition. The cumulative January update now appears to be deprecated on new installs as of the last few days. And KB2267602, a security update, now installs but only after 2 tries.

Nice hot mess. Can someone point me to an article that describes what happened? Can someone at Microsoft give me a reasonable apologetic reply?

Based on my tests there wasn't major update issue for Windows Update in January.
Are you facing a problem with Windows Update?
Is there any error code?
Did you manage to install the update?

Read my retraction. I just need to be patient until MS sorts out the update process. Hopefully this will occur with the April monthly patch Tuesday. I am still concerned about some performance degradation on machines that have been gettings patches for the last 5 months or so. But cannot say for certainty that it is caused by the updates.

In general, we just need to install the latest SSU and CU, then our system will stay at the good and safe state, Windows Defender will also be updated by Windows updates installed.
If you want to update Windows Defender separately, go here to download
