Is the costly upgrade worth it?

Hi,

I am happily still working on my Thinkpad W520 (SSD, 16 RAM) but lately I am wondering if an upgrade is worth the money. The i7-2720QM CPU is still strong, beats most of the latest generation "U" CPUs in performance. Except for Thinkpad X1 Extreme.

Looking at CPU benchmarks, X1 Extreme looks like it has double the processing capability. At it's price point, I'd have to ask before buying one.

Considering real-time error checking, intellisense, project building speed, would IDEs such as VS, VSCode and Android Studio get a noticeable boost (like double the speed) after an upgrade to X1 Extreme?

Well, to be honest, it really depends on what you need from a computer because, for me, that's not necessary at all. I just watch live matches there and join to https://takebet.ng from time to time when I want to place bets. That's a good way of entertainment already, so I don't really need anything else from a PC.
