Connect to on-prem data sources from Azure Data Factory

Our Azure Cloud is connected to on-premises network via Express Route .

As i understand , we can connect to on-premises from AutoResolve IR via Managed Virtual Network and using Self Hosted IR .

So which Integration Runtime to choose , while connecting to on-prem
AutoResolve IR via Managed Virtual Network
or
Self Hosted IR.

Please help.

Hello @MSTechie-7364 ,
Thanks for the ask and using the Microsoft Q&A platform .
I dont have an express route setup and hence i cannot test this . But since you are already on ER , I think AutoresolveIR work for you .
Please do let me know how it goes .
Thanks
Himanshu

Hi @HimanshuSinha-MSFT

My question is whether to use Azure Managed Virtual network option or Self Hosted IR , while connecting to on-premises.
Which is better ?

Please check internally with experts from Microsoft and let me know the answer.

Thanks for your reply @HimanshuSinha-MSFT

I think , we can connect to on-premises datasources, using 2 runtimes. Azure SSIS IR and Azure Self Hosted IR.

Below is what i think , as per my understanding.

If we are trying to rewrite SSIS packages in Azure Native ADF or writing Azure Native ADF, then to connect to on-premises, we can use Azure Self Hosted IR

If we are using Lift and Shift model of Azure SSIS IR , then i think we can stick with Azure SSIS IR, since it connects to a VNet and hence can connect to on-premises.
