Amount Data Returned has exceed maximum limit

Hi Guys,
I made some Finance related form system and after several submitted form later an error pops-up saying
"the amount of data that was returned by a data connection has exceeded the maximum limit that was configured by the server administrator".
I tried to look online but i couldn't understand what i should reduce/do in order to manage the data size and how can i check the data connection size on my form system? Im using a sharepoint online.
Would appreciate the help.
Thanks.

By default, the limitation data connection response size is set to 1500kb for Form Services. But in the SharePoint online, the limitation cannot be changed.

Then, you could check whether you have created the data connection in the InfoPath form.

If there is a data connection to receive data in InfoPath form, you need to remove unnecessary fields in the data connection.

Hi @EmilyDu-MSFT ,
Thank you so much for the reply. I have removed all unused fields and still receiving the same errors, does the workflow effects this issue as well? I have created on 4 different sites and only 2 of them have this error. the difference between the 4 is I used App Step on the 2 of the site's workflow. And is it possible to check the size of data connection that we have used?

I don't think use App Step on workflows will cause this error. You could try to remove App Step on workflows, compare the result.

In the SharePoint Online, it’s impossible to check the size of data connection that we have used.

I have removed App Step and still not working. Then I realized I didnt un-tick the 'Automatically retrieve data when form is open', which i did now. And still is not working, does the 1500kb size limit is for a single list or the whole site? because im trying to not remove the fields that we're currently using as it is compulsory to the users. And is there any size difference if I create the forms on subsite/parent site? I created 4 forms on one subsite:
the 4 forms I'm working on is:
1. Purchase Order Forms which has 3 dropdowns:
- A dropdown that list of all of our Vendors (400+ data)
- A currency converter (Which list out the currencies and their rates)
- A category list (which shows the list of purchase types)

  1. Payment Request Notice has only 1 dropdown:

  • A dropdown to the submitted Purchase Order forms which will automatically retrieve all data form the PO and filling up the PRN form.

  1. Capital Expenditure Form works the same as PO but only has 2 dropdowns:

  • Vendor List

  • Currency Converter

  1. CEAR Payment Request notice (works same as PO PRN)

@Syd4-3016

The limitation data connection response size is for one form.

The reason for the error is that there are too much data to be retrieved in one form.

I suggest you use Power Apps form to replace InfoPath form.

If you have any questions about InfoPath form, you could go to here to ask.
