Pictures are encrypted (.PFILE) and I can't open them

Hello, I don't know If I'm at the right place, but all my pictures are encrypted and I can't open them.
I don't know, how this happened, but every picture now has the file format ".PFILE".
I already tried to open them with "RMS sharing" on mac and with "Microsoft Azure Information Protection Viewer",
but I get the error "this file is not supported".

What can I do now?

Hi @christoph-5781,

Thanks for using Microsoft Q&A !!
Can you please try re-installing the AIP protection viewer app by downloading it from here ?

Thanks

Hi Saurabh,

no, it didn't work out.
But the software is not the only problem.
I don't have access to the certificate to encrypt the files anymore, because I sold my old notebook.
So even if Azure RMS would work, I wouldn't have access to the files.

Hi @SaurabhSharma-msft,

no, unfortunately there's no company, I'm just a privat person.
I now contacted the buyer of my old notebook, maybe he or I (or somebody else) can restore the certificate on the SSD,
so I can get access to my data.

Thanks again!
