I have a very basic Azure stream analytics job that works perfectly when running. I have an IoT Hub as the input and SQL database as the output.
The query editor page is unfortunately not loading the input data from the IoT hub. It just says "There was an error processing your request, Please try again in a few moments". However, if I "select a time range" it successfully pulls in some sample data.
Very strange behaviour that seems like a bug?

Just done some more testing and fixed the issue. Under the firewall settings of the Azure SQL database, the option "Allow Azure services and resources to access this server" was turned off. Turning on has solved the problem.

it seems you stumbled over a glitch in the Azure portal.
Did you check for the same behavior in a different type of browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)?
I recommend giving some feedback about this page to the AzurePortal team.
just click that feedback button and tell them what happens:

Thanks for the response. I've tested now on chrome, edge and the app. Still getting the same problem which is quite frustrating. On a separate login, we have attempted to replicate the solution exactly and still get the same problem, HOWEVER, we are also getting the error seen here in my other post: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/362802/asa-job-sql-database-output-error.html
This is very strange as the IoT hub input, ASA query and SQL output table structure are exactly the same. Are you able to give any more detail on what the "Initialize Adapter: Failed to initialize output adapter SQLdatabase" error could mean for us?
I've submitted some feedback - hopefully it is a glitch that is already known and they are working towards fixing.

Our apoliziges for the poor experinace which are are facing , I have reached for help to the internal team for help . I will update you once I heard from them .
On the second ask can you please elaborate what and how are you implementing the solution which ends up with the error "Initialize Adapter: Failed to initialize output adapter SQLdatabase" . If you change the output to something else ( may blob ) does it work . The SQL which are you are trying to connect is it azure sql ? Does it have network restrictions ?

Thanks for reaching out to the product team.
Have not tested with another output because our use-case requires SQL output. Yes it is Azure SQL. It does have network restrictions but we have added the required client IP address to the firewall and get a "successful" connection test.
