I have no option for inline track changes...I can't live in a balloon world. I've entirely removed the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, and nothing...still nothing.
This has been reported in the Microsoft Community as well. It doesn't appear to affect all users, though.
With the option Show Only Formatting in Balloons selected, are you saying that insertions, deletions and other revisions are still displayed in balloons?
I'm saying that the display option for inline only track changes is not present, i.e. the drop down menu under Review tab, Tracking, Markup Options is no longer displaying the third option for "Show All Revisions Inline." Under the referenced tab the options are limited to "Show Revisions in Balloons" and "Show Only cOmments and Formatting in Balloons."
Your screen shot indicates that the option is Show Only Formatting in Balloons. What happens, specifically, when you select that option? Are all revisions, except for formatting changes, shown in line with text? (I can't test it myself, because I still have the three "classic" options.)
It shows only formatting track changes in balloons, everything else in inline...so you can make a workaround where you uncheck track changes for formatting and then select "Show Only Formatting Changes in Balloons," but I'm not looking for a workaround, looking for restoration of "classic" options as this is the only device where this issue exists for me. All three classic options should be available, that's what I'm trying to solve for, root cause and solution.
