Load data into Azure Synapse from ADLS Gen2

what do you mean when you say Load data into Azure Synapse from ADLS gen2 ? do you load it in a different storage other than the Azure Data Lake Storage gen2? have a bit of confusion here. Is the data stored all within the data lake storage (ADLS gen2)?

Hi @JG-2647,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum and thanks for your query.

In general usage when we say 'Load data into Azure Synapse from ADLS gen2' - It means reading data from Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and loading it into dedicated SQL pools (formerly SQL DW ) in Azure Synapse Analytics. Dedicated SQL pool (formerly SQL DW) refers to the enterprise data warehousing features that are available in Azure Synapse Analytics. Dedicated SQL pool (formerly SQL DW) represents a collection of analytic resources that are provisioned when using Synapse SQL. The size of a dedicated SQL pool (formerly SQL DW) is determined by Data Warehousing Units (DWU).
