DSVM can support SQL Server Developer Edition for Ubuntu

According to this
- https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/machine-learning/data-science-virtual-machine/tools-included#store-retrieve-and-manipulate-data,
it appears that the SQL Server Developer Edition (Ubuntu) is being supported in DSVM but I couldn’t find the name in the supported list here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/machine-learning/data-science-virtual-machine/dsvm-tools-data-platforms#sql-server-developer-edition,
furthermore there is no guide line for Linux Guide line but only windows guideline is there.
I’d like make sure the followings :

  • Can DSVM support SQL Server Developer Edition for Ubuntu?

  • If yes, where is the guideline for this?

  • If no, the documentation is wrong? And any particular supporting plan for SQL Server Developer Edition for Ubuntu?

Thanks

@JunghyeonRyu-6784 Thanks for the question. We don't preinstall SQL Server Developer Edition on the Ubuntu images but you can install it on your own. Here is the documentation and steps.

@ramr-msft Thanks for your reply.

It looks like the preinstall SQL Server Developer Edition on the Ubuntu images is being supported.
So, does this mean the image preinstalled by the user?

Hello @ramr-msft Team, could you review the doc https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/machine-learning/data-science-virtual-machine/tools-included#store-retrieve-and-manipulate-data and advise me? And could you please confirm it once more? Users could be confused with this.
It looks like the preinstall SQL Server Developer Edition on the Ubuntu images is being supported.
Thanks

Hello. I'm having the same problem. Does the content checked on the site mean 'can be installed in OS'? Or does it mean 'already installed in OS'?

@JunghyeonRyu-6784 @walteryou-6748 Yes it's supported. It's not preinstalled, customers can install it on their own. We have forwarded to the product team to support for the pre-installed.

You can also raise a user voice request here so the community can vote and provide their feedback, the product team then checks this feedback and implements the feature in future releases.
