3 node multisubnet always On AG - Enterprise license requirements

Hi ,

I am planning a 3 node multisubnet AG for my DB. Right now i have 2 standalone nodes in SQL Server 2016 standard edition in DC.
I am planning to start my AG setup with 2 nodes in DC. Planning to add 1 node from DR as async replica sometime soon.
Should i have SQL enterprise edition in all 3 nodes ?

Thanks

Hi @udhayand-8188,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Should I have SQL enterprise edition in all 3 nodes ?

Each server instance must be running the same version of SQL Server to participate in an Always On Availability Group. Please get more details from Checklist: Prerequisites (Server Instance). If you use SQL Server 2016 Enterprise for 3 nodes, and when secondary servers are actively used to support these additional workload scenarios, they must be fully licensed accordingly. Please get more information from Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Licensing Guide.
