Network number

Hi everyone,
I have one question about a message I sometimes receive:
89737-image.png

Since I make no modifications on the network, I'm asking why this behavior occurs and what it points to

windows-10-network

Hi,

Thanks for posting in Q&A platform.

Is this network connection was tethered via USB device (such as Wi-Fi hotspot). If yes, then this is a normal behavior.

Each time we replaced our Wi-Fi hotspot but used the same name as before, Windows recognized it as a new/different hotspot with a name that collided with the old name, so it would throw a "1" or "2", etc. on the end of the ProfileName so that they're unique.

This phenomena could also be due to the virtual network adapters that we create on Windows.

As a workaround, you could delete the unwanted network profile in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles\

Here are 2 similar threads discussed the same issue, you could refer to explanations and methods in the following threads.

Can somebody please tell me if this is normal?

Why does my wifi name show up as <wifi name> <number>?
