Thanks for reaching out. Synapse SQL supports ADO.NET, ODBC, PHP, and JDBC. For more info please refer to this doc: Connect to Synapse SQL - Supported drivers and connection strings

Generic ODBC external table on server less, something like adls file as external table on server less pool, similarly SQL server or Oracle or informix on-premise connect via odbc or SQL connection..

Currently this is not supported.
But it’s an interesting scenario for us and would like to know more details about the requirement. Could you please elaborate on the scenario where this is needed so that I can share the feedback and use case with respective product team.

It can be used for any on-premise data source, as we don't want to move all data always using scheduled job and building pipeline is overhead and reduces lot of development effort.
