@ShivaRavichandran-6199, Research and find a known issue fixed in SCOM 1807. Could you let us know what is our SCOM version? If it is lower, we suggest to upgrade to 1807 or later version.

This issue may come from the machine name CGAKOJSDKLJPD.
1) check whether you can access your web console
http://CGAKOJSDKLJPD/OperationsManager

2) If 1) is not working, add the full domain name of machine CGAKOJSDKLJPD
e.g. http://CGAKOJSDKLJPD.XXX.com/OperationsManager

3) If 2) is working, changed the setting in the OpsMgr console under: Administration / Settings / Web Addresses / Web Console.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm able to access the link inside my management server but when I try accessing from anywhere else; I'm not able to access the link.

It gives me "403 forbidden : access is denied error".

Could you please guide us further.

@ShivaRavichandran-6199,,Agree with Roger, for error code 403, it seems to be permission issue. Could you let us know if we use the same account as the one on our management server to access the website when we get 403 error?

@DhruvikaG-9182 From your description, I know after granting permission, we find sometimes it can work. And sometimes. It will fail with error 500. Could you double confirm on this?

To know more specific cause of error 500, we can see IIS logs (C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1). Here are some links for the reference:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/iis/http-status-code#5xx---server-error
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/http/w3c-logging

Hope it can help.

@DhruvikaG-9182, From the log, it returns 500.0 which means Module or ISAPI error occurred. After reviewing your replies again, I notice it is able to access the web console URL from the management server. here, to clarify if the issue is network related, I suggest to copy the alert view link to the management server and browse in an explorer to see if it is accessible.

Please try the above test and if there's any update, feel free to let us know.

Hi @Crystal-MSFT and @DhruvikaG-9182 ,
same issue in different MG's (prod and fresh lab).

If I open the deep link from an alert mail I see 401 and 500 in the log:

  1. try: https://scomweb.lab.local/MonitoringView/default.aspx?ViewType=AlertView&DisplayMode=Pivot&AlertId=36916346-56d7-4021-a6c5-b10643d03f7e

  2. receive error 401 and 500 in the log.

If I open the console landing page and select any authentication method, I get to the web console and can access the deep link in a new tab afterwards (until the session expires):

  1. try this first: https://scomweb.lab.local/OperationsManager

  2. authenticate (windows or user/pw, doesn't matter)

  3. console works fine

  4. try link in new tab (or same, doesn't matter): https://scomweb.lab.local/MonitoringView/default.aspx?ViewType=AlertView&DisplayMode=Pivot&AlertId=36916346-56d7-4021-a6c5-b10643d03f7e

  5. deep link works fine until session expires/iisreset.

Anyone else can repro (using an existing alert ID from your MG)?

Thanks,
Patrick
