ODBC connect with GPO change server address appears in GP and in OU but does not update users

Hi,

I have a working ODBC user definition set up in GP management which has been working fine. It still does, but there is a problem. The server has been replaced by another, so I changed the address in the local ODBC setup, which updated the GP, the new settings also appear in the linked object in the OU.

However, the users still get the old server address in their ODBC definitions. If I delete the definition on the user's PC, then log out and log in puts the old server address back.

The GP object still has the new server address.

Where do you think the old address is hiding, so I can correct this major problem I have here. Any suggestions would be welcome, thank you.

Hi,
To know the issue more clearly, would you please tell how did you deploy the group policy?
If possible, please share the screenshot of the settings.
It seems the old policy was still applied.
Which GPO did you used to deploy the policy?
If we want to change the GPO setting, we need to change it the old GPO or remove the old one and deploy a new one.

Best Regards,

Here is a screen shot of the GPO with the new settings shown as the server address 10.11.1.247

Here is a screen shot of a client data source showing the old address, 10.11.1.252 is still displayed.

Hi,

For more information about the error, you can refer to Unable to create DSN using Group Policy Preferences, unspecified error 0x80004005

The error condition occurs if you attempt to configure username and password for the DSN policy using GPP. Username and password are not valid keywords when configuring a SQL Server DSN. For more information about the valid SQL Server-specific keyword/value pairs for data source configuration attribute strings, visit this Microsoft Web site.
