Adding a group in Azure AD (Azure Active Directory > Groups > New Group.)

Hi there,

I am new to Azure. As part of one of the learning experiences, i was trying to add a group (Azure Active Directory > Groups > New Group.), however i dont the see the option available. The screen navigates to portal.azure.com

Have attached the snapshot and posted the link below as well
Please clarify.

The error you see means that you do not have permission to create the group.

Make sure you are logging in with a global admin account as described in the group creation guide.

At minimum you need one of the roles that can create groups. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/roles/permissions-reference

Thank you Marilee for the response and the references shared. Will try the suggested solution and try to fix this.

Hi Marilee,

In the sandbox, when i checked my role itself is a contributor. Request you to help me whether i can be added to any admin group or how do i set myself as an admin to proceed with your suggestion as above.

Hi @CHK-9246,

If you own the tenant and have an admin account on that tenant you can grant yourself permissions. Otherwise you will need to request it from someone else who has global admin credentials on that tenant.
