After 20H2 update, Win10 crednetials for NAS storage no longer work. NAs drive has red X

I have a Synology DS420j NAS , which worked perfectly while running Win10 1909. How that I'm forced to update to 20H2 19042.928, it is unreachable via Windows.
Explorer. I have reset the credentials, have also tried resetting workstation service after deleting the credentials and performing "net stop workstation /y", then "net start workstation", then reentering the Windows credentials for the NAS again. Then it works as before. Until I power down my PC, and restart it the next day. Then it is unreachable again. I've attempted upgrading 3 times now, and have always had to roll back to 1909. I have reached out everywhere I can think of (Synology community, etc) but it is basically a Microsoft issue. I do not have Outlook or Office installed. Please help.

Hi,

Sorry for any inconvenience.

As Reza-Ameri's recommendation, the Feedback Hub app lets you tell Microsoft about any problems you run in to while using Windows 10. You can report this issue to Microsoft directly with the Feedback Hub app.
For more information on using the app, click here:

Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app

Meanwhile, if you want to investigate this issue deeply, network trace and other more deeper trace should be collect from both client and server side for further troubleshooting. However, due to environmental limitation and security compliance, from forum support level we cannot help reproduce the issue in our lab and collect necessary traces. I would suggest you could contact Microsoft Customer Support and Services where more in-depth investigation can be done so that you would get a more satisfying explanation and solution to this issue. And they will provide more in-depth investigation by phone communication and live remote session.

You may find phone number for your region accordingly from the link below:

Best Regards,
Sunny

Hello, and thanks for replaying. I have already done that (asked for help via Feedback Hub), and have also replied on other ppls similar threads there. No one ever responds.
This is so frustrating. I have installed a Windows update blocker just so I can continue to use my NAS drive!

Feedback Hub is the place to report bug and share suggestion and since this is a bug, then it is the right place to report it.
You might not receive direct response but Windows team will investigate the issue.
Check the event viewer see if there is any relevant log files there?

Since I wouldn't even know what to look for in Event Viewer, and I need NAS access daily, my only option right now is to block Windows Updates. Have been using Windows since 95, and over time newer versions remove more & more end user control. I am just a tiny speck in Microsoft World. Maybe this is the push for me to start to explore other OSs.

Hi,

Thanks for posting in Q&A platform.

May I know did we try re-map the NAS drive manually to see if the issue still existed?

Meanwhile, I would like to recommend you try save the NAS credential through credential manager to see if the issue can be fixed.

And here is an article talking about the same issue Mapped network drive may fail to reconnect in Windows 10, version 1809, you could refer to the workaround in this article to see if it was also helpful to our issue:

Hello Sunny,
I am not sure what you mean by "try to save the NAS credential thru credential manager." As that is where it already saved. I've deleted and readded them numerous times now.

"Microsoft is working on a resolution and estimates a solution will be available by the end of November 2018."
Almost 3 years on, and still no fix?
the link about creating a script is a bit over my head, I'm afraid. My NAS drives are currently mapped and working just fine on 1909, am curious as to why they shouldn't do the same for 20H2?
