Surface Pro X vs. Surface Laptop 4

I am looking at purchasing a computer for my work. They have provided me one that is old as dirt and refuse to upgrade my system in any way, shape, or form.

So yes. I know many wouldn’t purchase one out of their own pocket, but I am. Now that I have that out of the way, lol.

I am looking at either the Surface Pro X or the Surface Laptop 4. I’m only allowed to get one of these surface products so I’m looking to get one of the two I just mentioned.

I would love the SPX because I can use it as a tablet as well, and take handwritten notes during meetings, but I am unsure if it will suffice what I am currently working on.

Right now I have 8gb of RAM and it looks like my computer says I have 220gb of memory. I know that if I look at the specs for either, and make sure that I get increased RAM and storage then I should be fine.

But I just wanted to hear others opinions on the matter. On paper it appears as if the SFX would suffice for my daily work activities, but was curious if anyone uses this as their daily work driver.

I mainly work at revising procedures, training lesson plans and Powerpoints, performing training classes, a lot of excel, and most of the time I will have the computer hooked to a docking station and route it to my external monitor.

Again. Just looking for some more insight from people that have used either of the two. Thanks everyone!

You can compare the tech specs from

Surface Pro X – Ultra-thin & Always Connected 2-in-1 Laptop – Microsoft Surface
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/surface-pro-x/8QG3BMRHNWHK?activetab=pivot:techspecstab
and
New Surface Laptop 4: Ultra-Thin Touchscreen Laptop - Microsoft Surface,
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/surface-laptop-4/946627fb12t1?activetab=pivot:techspecstab
Next, make your own choice.

On the other hand, you could go here https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/surface-devices/ct-p/SurfaceDevices to discuss with many Surface users and experts.
