WVD and licensing

Are there any license options to use a WVD license for multiple tenants? The questions comes from a setup where all users have an office 365 license but the tenant used for the WVD is running on a different Azure AD with Azure AD DS. Is there a way to avoid having to buy multiple WVD licenses for each user?

Hi,

Here's a pricing and licensing overview:
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/virtual-desktop/

If you still have questions I would recommend to contact sales. See top of the page for contact references, or here:
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/overview/sales-number/

You can also contact Sales by chat.

Best regards,
Leon

I have read that page. My problem is "You are eligible to access" - does that mean I can access a WVD with any login as long as it is my login if I have an office 365 license? Or, can I only access using the login with an office 365 license assigned?

I have been talking to sales and they do not seem to have a consistent answer to this question.

Based on my understanding any login that has one of the mentioned licenses assigned to it should be eligible to access WVD.
If the Sales couldn't provide a concrete answer, you'll be best off by contacting a trained Microsoft licensing specialist:

I have posted my question to them. But this is my problem: I have a login with an office 365 account which will give me access to WVD. Like jacob@company.com

Now I deploy a separate tenant and in the tenant I have a WVD deployed. Now WVD does not support azure AD B2B so I have to create another account for me on that tenant to access the WVD. Like jacob@companyTWO.com. This account does not have an office 365 license and thereby not a license for WVD. But it is my account and I do have a license attached to my jacob@company.com account.

Do I in this case have to buy an additional license for WVD? Can I link the 2 accounts from a license perspective? Or is there a scale like in Azure AD where there is a 1:5 relation on redundant licenses between to tenants?

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for that, better wait to see what the Licensing answers.

Hi Jacob,
you post is some time ago, did you find a final insight for your scenario? I have exactly the same scenario and questions:
- We have a PROD and a DEV AAD-Domain/Tenant. TWVD is setup in DEV domain
- The O365 IUR Licences is assigned to my user in the PROD tenant
- It's not possible to logon as a guest with PROD User in DEV WVD, so i need a separate DEV User
- In my understanding my/all DEV users would need a 2nd O365 licence assigned to their DEV Users to get the scenario working?!
- Currently i see the only option as of to switch back from WDV to RDS Server, because for RDS User Calls the licencing seems to be not per User-Account but by natural person (see efinition Product Terms:"License User means the single person to whom a license is assigned".)
Regards,
Jochen

There is a technical limitation that does not allow a o365 license to be provisioned on multiple tenants.
