Microsoft Remote Desktop Issue on Mac -- Error 0x104

I've been using MRD on my Macbook Air (macOS Big sur Version 11.2.1) since the onset of the pandemic to connect to my lab computer. Unfortunately, since my last login (April 14), I receive the following error when trying to connect (also see attached image for error screen).

"Unable to Connect

We couldn't connect to the remote PC because the PC can't be found. Please provide the fully-qualified name or the IP address of the remote PC, and then try again.

Error code: 0x104"

I'm not sure why I am now unable to connect since it has worked perfectly fine since I first installed it last summer. I've tried various fixes (enabled file sharing via network, re-added the same PC, updated my macOS) and nothing seems to be working. I would so appreciate if someone could help me figure this out!

Hi,
If you know the ip address or hostname of the destination computer. you can enter it in "pc name" text box in Microsoft Remote Desktop. Or you can enter it in "ip address" this text box in Microsoft Remote Desktop. To check if ip address or hostname both doesn't work.
If this worked find before, I consider that you could download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac latest Version or older version on your MAC to avoid some know issue. Check if it could remote connect.

Hi Carlfan,

I've uninstalled and installed MRD but I'm not sure how to update it to the newest version. According to the update log, it has updated consistently since I've had (current version is Version 10.6.4 (1878)).

I did look at the link you sent and I found two IP addresses for my DNS. I'm not sure what these are? I tried adding them to MRD and both times I get this error:

We couldn't connect to the remote PC. Make sure the PC is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled.

I'm not sure if one of these IP addresses are connected to my lab computer?

So wanted to update everyone. I ended up restarting my lab computer and it fixed it! Simple solution :)
