Unable to link personal and work accounts

Hello,

I am trying to link my work account to my personal account on Microsoft Learn but am not succeeding.

The steps are as below:

  • I navigate here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/

  • I sign in with my personal account - this is a gmail address which then prompts me to sign in with GitHub. The sign in completes successfully.

  • I navigate to Profile > Settings

  • Under Account Management it tells me I am signed in with my personal account and I can link up to 5 school or work accounts but has an error message telling me this has failed (see screenshot)91531-error.png

  • I have tried contacting the customer support link in the screenshot. They told me to try in a different browser, to clear my cache, and to try in incognito/InPrivate mode, all of which did not work. They then directed me here.

  • If I try again (click 'Add account' and follow the prompts to sign into my work account via SSO) I get the pop up message 'something went wrong. please try again.'

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi Ruby,

I'm PM of Docs Profile. I received a customer feedback on the same issue. The feedback I received doesn't provide enough information on which Docs Profile has the problem, but the customer has described almost the same steps and in the same way as you did above.

To move on for investigation, could you please let me know from which Docs Profile you've seen the problem. Is it your current profile ruby-0685?

Microsoft Certification / Learn Program is not supported here on QnA. I'd suggest asking for help in the forums I linked above (Participate\Ask A Question)

Microsoft Certification Program is supported on their own forums. You can request help with profile linking / merge in dedicated forums here. (Participate\Ask A Question)

Hi @DSPatrick - thank you for your response however I was not able to resolve my issue with this answer.

The customer support link from the error itself connected me to Microsoft Account support. They have said that since I am attempting to link the accounts via docs.microsoft.com (as per instructions) that they are not the correct support channel, and that this Q&A forum is.

If there is some other way to link the accounts, could you please post or link instructions to that? I am getting very confused as I have been sent to various different support channels but the issue remains unresolved.

Thanks in advance.
