MS Teams 'Get Email' Function not working from private channel: "We won't be able to deliver this message to [email] because this email address is no longer valid"

On MS Teams, I'm trying to send an email to a private channel using the 'get email address function'. However, when I enter the email address into Outlook, Outlook shows the following error message:

"We won't be able to deliver this message to [email] because this email address is no longer valid"

What is going wrong? Is it because the function is not available through private channels? If so, why is the 'get email address' option showing?

Thank you!

EDIT: A team member just informed me that the same is happening for them. This means I need a solution that will work for the whole team rather than one which I will have to walk members through individually. Any ideas?

EDIT 2: I found that I can get the email to work if, the first time I use it, I copy and paste only the address in-between the '<>' characters. I cannot copy and paste the whole of the chain of characters which 'get email address' provides. After the first use, I can copy and paste all. Is this some kind of bug?

    Hi @SABBAGHChristina-6887,

    Follow the next steps.

    Close Outlook.

Navigate to the next folder and delete all contents c:\users\username\appdata\Microsoft\Outlook\Offiline Address Book.

    Restart Outlook.

If this doesn't help, follow the tips provided by the link below.

Thank you for your help, I tried this and it didn't work. The problem is that I am trying to set up the infrastructure for the whole of my Team so even if I find a solution for myself, I still need to work out why this is happening for everybody else to avoid having to troubleshoot with each team member individually.

Any more ideas on why this might be happening?

    @SABBAGHChristina-6887

You could also try the following method.

    Go to the next location.

    https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/groups

Select the name of the group (Team).

    The Settings tab.

Uncheck "Hide from my organization's global address list".

    Hi SABBAGHChristina-6887,

Do you click the advanced settings when you get email address of private channel?

You can check if the option “Anyone can send emails to this address” is selected.

    Hi SABBAGHChristina-6887,

Do you check if the option “Hide from my organization's global address list” is unselected as TKujala mentioned?

If it is unselected, you could change to online mode in outlook client as below.

Go to outlook client > File > Account settings > double click your account > unselect option “Use Cached Exchange Mode to download email to an Outlook data file” > restart outlook client > try to send email again.
