Leave Autopilot devices as Pro

My supervisor wishes to leave devices as Windows 10 Pro. After provisioning with Autopilot they get upgraded to Enterprise. I have not configured the Edition Upgrade profile. How do I stop this?

Tried adding the Edition Upgrade profile, set for Pro. Re-installed Windows Pro from a thumb drive. After Autopilot provisioning it still upgraded it to Enterprise!

@Jason-MSFT Since an E3 or E5 license is required to enroll an Autopilot device in Endpoint Manager/Intune, then I don't see how I can keep a device at Pro. Am I missing something?

No. I called this out in my answer below: "There is no way to selectively enable or disable this to my knowledge. "

But once again, without knowing why you want to do this, there's really no way to help as this is simply not the designed functionality.

Why? If the user is licensed for Enterprise, why would you leave them with Pro which has a reduced management footprint and capbilities?

It's a long story, that I cannot elaborate much on. The boss has legitimate reasons and the doc says that Pro is supported in Endpoint Manager/Intune and Autopilot. If it is supported, how do you do it? If it is not, then that should be clearly documented.

No one said it wasn't supported to manage Pro -- I wrote that there is a reduced capacity to manage Pro. This is not an Intune limitation, it's a Pro limitation as there are many differences between the two SKUs by design including some manageability features and functions. That's the entire point of having a Pro and Enterprise (and Home) SKU.

The defined functionality here is to automatically upgrade the SKU to Enterprise on devices where the user is licensed for this. There is no way to selectively enable or disable this to my knowledge. This is also independent from Intune.

It's really difficult to help though without knowing more about the entire scenario.

Do you have Windows 10 licenses assigned to the users in the Azure portal/Office 365 portal?
