DHCP Record

Hi All,

we are receiving calls from a person daily regarding account lockout. I have managed to pin point what machine is locking his account but there are further questions.

Although the machine pings I am unable to find a DHCP record for the IP Address of the machine that the account has been locked out on.

Can anyone explain what is happening here.?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Based on my understanding, you find the source computer of the lockout.

Although the machine pings I am unable to find a DHCP record for the IP Address of the machine that the account has been locked out on.

How did you ping machine? Via IP address or hostname/FQDN? Please first check if you can ping IP address successfully. If you ping machine's (lockout account ) IP successfully, but you cannot find the lease in DHCP server. I would suspect there other equipment which have DHCP on and assign the lease for this machine.

Run ipconfig /all to look for the address of the DHCP server and make sure the machine is picking up the correct DHCP server.

Best Regards,
Candy
