Hyper-V Storage

I have 2 exact HP DL380 Gen 10 Servers. Both have about 15tb of hard drive space. What I would like to do is create a failover cluster where I use the on-board disks for the VM's. Is this possible? How would I go about setting up the hard drives? I already have them in a Raid10 array. I've seen where you should use CSV's or iSCSI. Any thoughts would be appreciated. F.Y.I. We do not have a SAN or NAS

Hi,

Thanks for your posting!

Based on your descriptions, I would like to advise you to check the following things.

  1. Which OS do you use to create a failover cluster?

  2. Generally,we advise customers to do a storage space direct under this situation. But, since your storage has been in a Raid10 array,it didn't meet the basic requirements.
Here's how drives can be connected for Storage Spaces Direct:Storage Spaces Direct hardware requirements

  3. You can find a third server as share storage or one server virtualizes two VM to create a cluster, but it is equivalent to losing high availability.

Thanks for your time!
Best Regards,
Alfred

Good Morning,

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using Server 2019 datacenter. As far as storage I can delete the RAID 10 Array and set it per the recommendations.

Hey,

As an alternative to S2D, you can use StarWind VSAN to create a 2 node cluster. StarWind can utilize an existing RAID10 to create replicated shared storage pool and share it via iSCSI. The following guide will walk you through the configuration process:
